Stiebel Eltron CK 20E 240-Volt 2000-Watts Wall Mounted Electric Fan Heater Reviews
In the spring of 2011 we moved about 1200 miles and totally changed our lives. In the process we bought an older home that had not been heated the last few winters. Fast forward to the fall of 2011 and we were trying to decide the best direction. A small house fire later and we decided to rewire the whole house and go with baseboard heat. The only hesistation was in the childrens bedrooms. The fear of another fire sent me in search of wall heaters. I found these Steibel Eltron heaters and liked the fact that they hung on the wall instead of being recessed. I pulled the trigger on two of them and have never looked back. They are 240V and they are extremely efficient. They have been on about 1(out of 3) most of the winter and the upstairs is not exactly "tight". We get some pretty massive winds and for the most part it is below zero the entire winter. For the cost and ease of installation, I would be tempted to put more of these in and less of the baseboards if I were doing things over.
I have now bought three (3) of these. Two in the 115v and one 240v. They work like a dream. Powerful, quiet, compact. Pretty easy to install because you don't have to cut a hole in the wall. It surface mounts with little feet.Strangely enough, no funny smells when first started up. I think the designers put a lot of thought into the details. Amazingly enough, in 2011 at least (and perhaps still) the heater was still being made in Germany but shipped via Massachusetts. How do those German manufacturers keep the wages so high and the prices so low? Wish the USA could learn how. One note my electrician observed: you will likely need to use armored cable (BX) to install it because a half in of it is exposed between the heater and the wall. That's right, it is hard wired to the electrical system in both models. Check with your local electrical inspector. In sum, I would recommend this to a friend.
This heater is solidly built with a very quiet fan and an appealing appearance. This is a 240 volt unit but easily installed on the surface without any additional components. I would recommend for either homeowners or electricians.
I purchased this heater to mount over the door in our bathroom due to that being the only place that it could logically be located. The reason for needing the heater is that the bathroom is at the end of the central heat duct run and in addition had three walls exposed to the outside, one of which was a north facing exposure. The temperature was always a little cool in that room. The installation included putting a wall switch below the unit so that it could be turned off without climbing up to manually turn the thermostat off.We had the unit professionally installed and have used the heater for about three weeks - the heater fan does not blow hard but has kept the room very comfortable. The thermostat seems to work very well. The noise when it is on is minimal. The styling of the unit makes it blend into the room without it shouting HEATER!If you are expecting a heater that you can turn on when you are in the room and it heat up the room quickly, this unit is not for you. I think that the application that I am using it for (an adjunct to the central heat) is a very good application for this unit.
have purchased 2 of the 20E models(220v)--they work great--first one is 4 years old and going strong
