I live in a small apartment and need to grab storage space wherever I can. I had been looking for a bathroom space saver--that didn't look cheesy--for some time. From the pictures and description, this space saver from Zenith appeared to be the perfect choice. It was fairly easy to assemble, although it was a challenge coping with severe arthritis in my left thumb while trying to competently put it together. I ended up breaking the project up and spreading the assembly over a couple of weeks.*Pros:1) The height is nice. Not too tall but short enough that the top can be used for additional storage or for decorative purposes.2) Holds, and hides, a fair amount of bathroom/grooming necessities.Cons:1) I do not like the door knobs but that is easily remedied and will probably be happening this week.2) There is a gap between the two doors. If the gap was smaller or if the structure of the shelves behind the doors were a bit different--a center brace to add extra strength--the 3/8-inch gap would appear more natural. This gap can be fixed/hidden with a bit of cleverness. Purchase a very thin sheet of decorator board, paint it white and attach it to the inside of one of the doors.3) The strap included in the package is intended to be attached to the space saver and then attached to the wall for added support. I ended up buying L brackets which have been screwed into the wall. I will need to drill a tiny hold on the top of the space saver to make sure that it is firmly fixed to the wall. All in all, I would purchase this space saver again, even with the flaws. It is relatively attractive and I will be able to store appropriate items behind doors so that they are still in the bathroom but hidden. Always a good thing.*It occurred to me as I was going over the review that I should mention, the assembly of this cabinet, pre-arthritis would probably have taken me less than an hour to put together by myself. Unfortunately, holding tools is very painful after a few minutes.
This space saver is very attractive and well designed - except for one thing. One must put the lowest support bar onto it while it is in place, standing on the floor, slightly above the toilet tank. The low support bar does give you several pre-drilled holes so you can install the bar at different heights, but it was, nevertheless, difficult to install because it was so very close to the plumbing. However, having said that, I must also say that I read reviews of similar space-savers, and they all are designed the same way so there's no getting around this problem. That's the only reason that I gave it four stars instead of five. It's easy to put together and though I expected there to be a space between the doors because of one review I read, I discovered that this was easily remedied - the door hinges have a wide hole for putting in the screws and if you space them properly, there is no space between the doors. They fit perfectly for me. I love the huge amount of behind-the-doors space that the space-saver provides, and the bottom shelf which can be used for more decorative items. There's also room for things on the top of the unit if you're tall enough to reach that area - I'm not, but my granddaughter for whom I bought the unit (she lives with me) is tall enough to use that space. I almost forgot - there is another reason for which I did not give five stars to the product. I got all the way through putting the product together and connecting the top to the bottom piece (piece of cake) with plenty of hardware provided for the job - until I came to fastening the unit to the wall. For some crazy reason, they give you the screw and flat nylon cording to attach to the unit, but right in the directions it says clearly that they provide no screw to fasten the unit to the wall! I couldn't believe it! Well, it's a good thing that I'm handy because I keep lots of nuts, bolts, screws, washers, etc., on hand. This needed a screw anchor as well as a screw and I was pretty annoyed that these two pieces hadn't been provided. What a pain in the neck. I had to go look through my collection of hardware for just the right screw that would thread through the flat nylon cord (a plain sharp wood screw does the job) and then find a screw anchor to fit the screw. That said, the unit is worth the money and the job of putting it together. It definitely has made a difference in how my granddaughter keeps her bathroom cleaner now. One hint - the inside shelves are tall and you can add extra storage room by purchasing Rubbermaid rubber covered wire shelf organizers that will fit just perfectly inside this unit and double your storage. I don't know why they didn't design it with three inner shelves, but I really like the space saver and that's what counts in the end. Remember - purchase a screw anchor and a screw to attach the flat nylon cord to the wall and you won't find this a pain in the neck. I wish the people who had reviewed it had mentioned that in their reviews. It was not a case of a part being missing. The directions themselves say that the part is not included. Go figure. but don't miss out on a beautiful space saver just because of that.
Cabinet does what it needs to. The top-to-bottom attachment could be more sturdy (it's just two small dowels), but if you secure it to a wall it stands just fine.
Nice looking and sturdy cabinet. Does not look cheap and the frosted glass on the doors is elegant looking. A slight issue with the gap between the doors in the middle and it's just the way it is when put together. Took about 20 minutes to put together with 2 people.
This is, in fact, a nice addition to my bathroom. My master bath is small with ample counter place but there are those things you'd like to put away and not crowd your counter. I love the look. Thought it was a good buy for the money. Didn't take long to assemble but... someone needs to warn you that there MAY not be enough room for your plumbing. After it was assembled, we had a heck of a time, trying to determine how it would fit over the toilet. We ended up putting some wood underneath to raise it. I saw CoolGrandma's comments but can't determine how to move the bottom shelf upwards so as to allow enough room for the toilet lid. I have decided to purchase a piece of two by four to raise it and keep it steady. In the meantime, if anyone has a better solution to the problem, I'd love to hear it.I didn't want to return it because I do love the look.
It gave our restroom a new look. We are overall pleased. It has some flaws. The construction is not the best. You most definitely WILL have to secure it to the wall. There are two white plugs for the side legs...and I felt they are useless. They are always falling off. But overall, I like the item and I am pleased with the updated look our bathroom received.
