I finally decided that I wanted a new drill. I'm a professional garage door mechanic and GOOD cordless power tools are essential. I've got the whole panasonic 14.4v line and I love all the tools... But the drill just didn't spin the same as anyone else's DeWalt did. If you ever felt the way the drill spins in the handle and you know quality from the way it snaps to a start and snaps to a stop, even the way it sounds, then DeWalt has it on that. This new 20vMAX line is no different. Decided I'd jump into the DeWalt line while they're introducing a brand new line. Amazon was one of the first people to carry it and I ordered this in the beginning of September, well before its October release in all the rest of the stores. My local home depot had them but only the DCK280C2 which is a regular drill/driver with impact. For the $20 more I wanted the DCK285C2 which had the hammerdrill/driver. I mean who wouldn't want the versatility of a hammer drill option on the same drill for $20 more? Anyways, I LOVE that DeWalt finally went to a slide style battery. Kudos for the battery not falling out by accident anymore. Having the option of the 1.5ah batteries that it comes with is nice as they charge quickly and are compact. I need to buy the 3.0ah battery's though because these tools are pretty much attached to my hands 8-10 hours a day. The battery will easily charge in time (~30 minutes)before the other one dies at a pretty continual use though so it's not critical for me yet. The Drill is snappy and I love it. It spins with so much more power and RPM's than my existing drill. Being in the garage door industry I'd say I'm drilling 90% Steel/Metals and 10% Wood. This thing is amazing and cuts through whatever I'm drilling quickly and without hangup. The fact that the light comes on automatically and shuts off with delay automatically is also a very nice touch for both tools. I like the led's on impact driver more though as there's 3 of them focused around the bit holder so there's no shadow where your working at whatever angle. The drill has 1 led and its right above the trigger. When I am going to start a hole the clutch of the drill shadows right where I need the light. Only flaw I could think of though so that's not bad. Hammer drill drilled 3" 3/16 hole in block and cement for tapcons with ease. Not a full time heavy duty hammer/drill but it's a nice option when your on a ladder/lift and find you need to drill concrete. I didn't think I would use the impact driver at first as I have 3 panasonic 14.4v impacts and was only trying to replace the drill. 1 with 1/4" hex drive and 2 with 1/2" square drive. I use the 1/2" square drive one's because I'm doing a lot of fastener driving AND wrenching of nuts a bolts. Well I immediately fell in love with the look and feel of the DeWalt impact driver upon examination. I also liked the way it felt upon start and stop of the tool, just like the drill, a sharp start and stop and durable feel. I also noticed it has way more RPMS than my panasonics, which meant I was screwing hinge screws into doors that much quicker. I bought a 1/2" adapter for the impact and started making use of it in the real work world. This thing has a lot of torque!! Feels very nice in my hand all day and the durable METAL clip on the side of it is a must. When it's hanging off my pocket or toolbelt I hardly notice it's there. I was working on a lift last week about 12 feet in the air and leaned down to get something and the impact caught and lifted its clip out of my pocket and it tumbled down all 12 feet to a concrete floor. You should have heard the sound that came from me. When I went down I was pleasantly surprised to see it in one piece and working the same. I've cracked the housing on my panasonics doing such a thing before and was worried with the new DeWalt line having reduced the size of their handles. They are strong and they are comfortable. I definitely think I'm going to end up replacing the rest of my tools to the the new 20V Max line. It appears as though they'll be having a lot of the same tools they had in 18V coming to 20V Max soon and keeping all your batteries the same when you got a truck full of tools/supplies and your always going to the next persons house to fix/install their door is a must. I recommend this combo kit to anyone and everyone. I'm very satisfied and I'm a professional use my tools hard and all day guy. I look forward to a 1/2" square drive model coming out. Oh, and shout to Amazon and Amazon Prime for having overnight shipped to me for $3.99!! I LOVE AMAZON PRIME

great product, power is amazing hammerdrill is better than my corded monster. impact driver is powerfull use both for tapcon screws the best results i ever had size and wieght are great, light and small. lights are a big help battery charges in 30 minutes you cant ask for anything more. i rate these an 11. i have been doing carpentry ,electrical and plumbing work for over 28yrs and these impress me.

POWER POWER POWER.The new lithium ion batteries are VERY light. Plus, the drill itself is light, making long projects far less fatiguing than with older drills. 2 batteries are included. 30-35 minutes for a full charge and the batteries last a long time. Nonstop drilling action if you need/want it.The super powerful drill really is amazing. The lighted tip was a brilliant addition. It really makes it nice when drilling in a dark space or even just a place without great light; you can see exactly what you are drilling. The light is on a timer, so it lights for a while and then shuts itself off. The batteries are interchangeable and charge surprisingly rapidly. By the time one wears out, the other one is ready to go. But don't get me wrong, the batteries LAST quite a while.I can't recommend this highly enough. After using it for a couple of projects, it is clear that the lithium battery with its added power but super light weight is a HUGE advancement. Dewalt has got this DOWN!Yes yes yes for the professional or do-it-yourself guy. Light enough even a small woman wouldn't struggle with it...not to insult anyone's masculinity. Good price and obviously the work of Dewalt incorporating feedback from their customers.

I've been using cordless tools for 30 years now. Can't believe how small and lightweight these both are, especially the hammer drill. They've greatly improved the rubber grip on the handles, too. The rubber swelled up and pulled away on my last DeWALT. I don't think it will happen with this one.The 3 LEDs with their 20 second time delay is also a great boon that will come in handy on the job. The hammer drill even has an LED, which was unexpected.Definitely get the hammer drill combo instead of the drill combo. It's like getting 3 tools for the price of 2.

Length:: 3:55 MinsNot much more I could add about the positive aspects of this tool. Dewalt needs to correct the excessive chuck runout. This video compares the dcd785 to an old makita 9.6v. No plans on building precise grandfather clocks but the wobble is a bit much.

Bought this for a basement remodel and it preformed better then I could have imagined. A little more then 1000 3 1/2" screws with the impact and no problems what so ever. Batteries charge amazingly fast, and even the 1.5Ah last quite a while. I am thoroughly impressed with this set, and after using them I think a few family members will be making the jump from 18 to 20v soon. While the power is similar between dewalt's older style and the 20v, the weight and feel of the tools is better hands down. The impact powered through 8 to 10 hours a day in near constant use without any problem for the last couple of weeks. I was driving 3 1/2" T25 screws as well as 6" T30 screws and it had no problem with either one. With the 1.5Ah packs my wife and her teenage sister had no trouble handeling the tool, even using it overhead at times. I can't say as much for my older XRP 18v drill. The Drill had no problem running a 3/4" paddle bit through studs to run wires, and while I had no use for the hammer feature on this project, it got tested out on a few scraps. The 1.5Ah batteries that come with this kit lasted amazingly long for their size and weight, and the 3.0 Ah battery that I purchased along with the kit lasted a good half day before needing charged. The one hand insert feature of the impact is nice and makes loading and unloading bits a breeze, and the lights on both tools are something I won't soon be taking for granted, not needing to position a light when working in low light areas is a real time saver.I have not found any complaints with the set thus far, but if you will be using the tool for all day heavy work then you will need at least three 1.5Ah batteries or the two that come with the kit and a 3.0 Ah.All in all this is an amazing kit, and like so many times before Dewalt has come through with an amazing product.

I hesitated to buy this as a christmas gift, as he alredy owns 3 18v and 2 14v drills. He wanted new batteries for the 18v drills for christmas, but when I saw this set I purchased it instead. When he opened it he said "I already have enough drills I just wanted batteries" but after he used them.... He said you can just get rid of the other drills I'll just be using these ones from now on! They are so light weight and powerful we where amazed. I'm so glad I decided to purchase them.

I have had this set for a while now. While I am with many people who are upset that manufacturing has gone to China, I must also say that it's because we want our products cheaper...... well there you have it. For less than $300 you get a STRONG drill for home and DIY, and a cool impact drill that works like a champ. Some people have mentioned that the drill isnt centered and seems to wobble, but i have not noticed that in my projects. I have always owned Dewalt, and will continue to use their products, unless they go cheaper than other products out there....

This DeWalt drill set is fantastic. It comes with both a hammer drill and a compact drill. Furthermore, the set comes with two 20-volt batteries and a charging unit. So far, I like everything about it. The two batteries are more than enough to keep you in action full time. It takes very little time to achieve a full charge. In my tests, it is less than 30 minutes to complete the charge. The batteries themselves run for 1.5 hours of general use. At that rate, you can keep switching the batteries out, and keep on going in your job. The drills are POWERFUL! Even the compact drill, which is great for getting into tight spaces, gives a tremendous amount of torque and speed, making tough drilling tasks much easier. The hammer drill is also very good. I could have used this last year when I was driving some wood beams into a concrete foundation to support a small stairway. One negative - while the hammer drill is powerful, it does not come with a support grip for your other hand to achieve maximum pressure while applying the hammer drill to its task. Despite that issue, the set is fantastic. I highly recommend it for your toughest household jobs.

I really like the extra torque with the 20 volt tools. Plus they are lighter and easier to handle. It is great for general around the house usage. Would also be good for occasional big projects. If I were a professional I might want something that is a little more heavy duty but it meets my needs just fine.
