The top bar must be installed onto the air conditioner. The holes that is drilled into the top of the air conditioner which is medal, where not large enough to screw the screws into the top of the air conditioner so you can attach the top bar. The side panels which is made of thin plastic did not have screw holes to screw directly into the side of your window sill. I could't figure out how on earth this plastic side panel is suppose to screw into the side of the window. After two hours I finally figured out how I could complete this task. Now lets talk about how the side panels and top of the air conditioner didn't adequately fit into the window. It just didn't fit. No matter what I did it wouldn't fit. I have average side windows. If you finally figure out how you are going to screw the side panels into the side of the window to hold it in place, you cannot use the proper size screw driver to fit between your window side panel and the plastic side panel because a regular size screw driver is to long to fit between the window side and and plastic side panel to screw it in. The inside fan is made out of hard plastic and the front of the air conditioner and the outside sides of the air conditioner is made out of plastic. Also the top is made out of hard plastic. If you love to spend hours(I spent three hours just putting three air conditioners together before installing it in my window) and if you like spending at least another hour and a half just installing one air conditioner into your window then this is the air conditioner for you. I forgot to tell you the directions on how to install the side plastic panels onto the side of the air conditioner is faulty. You have to first take apart the bottom part of the side panel before sliding it into the side of the air conditioner. I was told by air force recruiter that according to their test I shoul be building air planes. so I am a very mechanical person. I do not recommend buying this product to anyone.
This is an efficient unit. Cools really well without using a lot of electricity. Has a nice design.
This is a great unit, but the directions that come with it are very bad. Not that it takes a rocket scientist to install it, but still, I'd like to see clearer directions. Also, it didn't come with the required screws...??? Still, though, it's a great unit.
