Olight 50109 SR90 Intimidator with Luminus SST-90 LED 2200 Lumens Flashlight Overviews

Welcome to a new era in LED technology. Leading the way is the Olight SR90, a solid state LED flashlight that's considerably brighter than a car headlight and throws it's beam further. This is the first LED light we've ever seen which plays in the same league as a HID for output but the SR90 has an advantage: it offers instant, 100-Percent output, which also allows it to strobe. The optical superiority offers a much cleaner, smoother beam profile. The Olight SR90 utilizes the Luminus SST-90 LED, 30W which has a lifetime of 60,000 hours. It has two brightness levels and a strobe mode. On high mode it produces 2200 lumens for 80 plus minutes. Low mode produces 700 lumens for 9 hours and it strobes at an amazing 2200 lumens at 10 Hz for 150 minutes. The max throw on the SR90 is 1000 meters. It has exellent tridemensional heat dissipation ability. The SR90 also uses an adavanced digital power management system. It's rechargeable battery pack includes 6 18650 7.2V at 6.6A. Accessories included are, one strap, one charger, one operaters manual and one O ring.

This is an impressive light with very high output. It is massive though as it weighs a bit over 3.5 pounds! Definitely not an every day carry pocket light. About 1 pound heavier than my 4D cell Maglite with batteries. The deep machined texture provides a sure grip. It is what I call a waffle grill pattern.Workmanship and finish are excellent and the battery power charge status check capability is an excellent feature in my opinion. I wish other large flashlights had it. A well thought out and executed product.I disagree with the reviewer who indicated a preference for a tail switch as this is not a tactical light that is likely to be held in the overhand position and is heavy enough so a "tactical" switch position would require two handed operation. Once into the large light category the tailcap switch is not convenient in my experience.

this flashlight is truly AWESOME!!! if you ever felt like you wanted to have all the power in the world buy this light. it will blindingly bring a grown man to his knees, and it will put the power of sunlight in your hands, and it will have all your neighbors waiting in line to hold it and use it. its a very big light, definatley not something you carry around casually, and its NOT something you use around the house......i pretty much got it just to say i have it. and turning it on out back in the fields it GREAT fun.PROS: insane light output for about half a mile, VERY sturdy, quality craftsmanshipCONS: it costs a lot of money,(some will think its worth it, like me), and its HUGE!!

The Olight SR90 is currently the brightest LED light commercially available, though that will surely change in time. It is an extremely solid, well-built light. It is heavy, so if using it for an extended time, the included shoulder strap comes in handy. Considering the brightness, the battery time is surprisingly long at over an hour on the high setting. Whether the cost of this light is worth it to you depends on how much you need it, or how much you simply enjoy these types of lights (there's nothing wrong with that). Recently there were hunters/hikers on the cliffs behind the building where I live, with 3 lights in a triangle pattern, which is a universal distress signal. The fire department was called, but their brightest lights couldn't sufficiently illuminate the area several hundred yards away for them to be able to tell what the situation was. They called the fire department helicopter. As they waited for it to arrive, I got out my SR90 and lit up the area from a distance of probably 500 yards or more (I was farther away than the FD). It was enough for the FD to see with their binoculars that the people weren't in distress, and they cancelled the helicopter. I felt kind of good about that. If you're considering this light and the price is worth it to you, you won't be disappointed.

You might not have $30 million to buy a jetliner, but if you buy this light, you can make it look like you're landing one. I wonder if Lawrence Livermore / National Ignition Facility has considered an array of these to help initiate hydrogen fusion? Or maybe redirect high earth orbit satellites equipped with photon sails? What I really dig about this light is the highly collimated beam (long throw). It's neat to have in hand what is essentially a portable 4-inch spotlight. Although this light is not as bright as the majority of HID lights in the 35-55W range, it has several advantages. 1) still reasonable size 2) weighs less 3) longer run times in low mode 4) generates vastly less heat 5) tighter collimation 6) looks cooler 7) may appear almost as bright since there is less spill 8) strobe function 9) could be confused for type 1A supernova when seen from miles away. About the only disadvantages are price and both length and weight. Even though SR90 isn't burdensome to carry, it weighs in near 4 pounds and looks like the first half of a baseball bat painted black. If you need ultra-portable, this isn't it. If you're looking for a yard/flood light, get the SR92 model instead.Kudos to Olight for a job well done. Everything from the case to the threading on the handle and head reveal superior quality. I love the handle/integrated-battery concept. The highest quality rechargeables needed for LED flashlights like this one add significant cost and must be individually added into magazine/caddy. With the Olight SR90 a battery system is both included and integrated, presenting a simple interface for charging. I know there are other 2000 lumen flashlights for significantly less, but I really doubt they measure up.This is a very powerful light. Please be careful not to shine directly into people's or animals's eyes, as it could potentially cause eye damage -- just something to consider when stepping into this league of flashlight. FYI, I read on CandlePowerForums that the SR90 is in the 1300 lumens range (OTF) instead of the 2200 lumens advertised. The poster's methodology was carefully thought out, and I feel confident he's correct. Even so, I'm completely satisfied with the light.

I was hesitant to purchase a flashlight over $200, but I am not disappointed. I've been cruising the Caribbean for 3 years now on my sailboat. I am often anchored in some remote places with very little light. I had a Coleman Powermate light at 10M candlepower that I would use to scan the water before turning in for the night or if I heard noises on the water. This is an awesome light and for some strange reason is no longer produced. However, the battery was near death so I upgraded to the Olight SR90 Intimidator beast.I have to say, that I really feel like I am violating some type of international laws when I turn this monster on at night. It lights up the night like the sun! Unbelievable, you really have to witness the power first hand. I really was speechless when I saw this beam for the first time! Too much fun. I was receiving calls on the VHF radio wondering what was going on in my part of the anchorage. I've learned over the years that 'light' is one of the best forms of safety. After numerous boat thefts in the Dominican Republic anchorage a few years back, an old man started shining a beam every night around the anchorage. The crime stopped immediately. The Olight Intimidator would be a superb choice for this type of security operation given light output and battery life. No one can hide from this beam! I would estimate that you have excellent visibility for 1/4 mile and can see things 1/2 mile away easily. It also would be a first rate choice for entering a strange harbour at night or performing search and rescue. After using this product, I feel like I own some Alien technology. Way to go Olight and I'm glad to see that your company also works with one of my favorite companies "Fenix." You guys rock! Congrats to all your engineers! This product is wickedly cool! s/v Celtic Dream, Grenada W.I.
