    1. Length:: 0:42 MinsPrevious to getting this machine I had a 12 year old extra large Maytag top loader. It is a whole new world of doing laundry. Here are a few of the differences: You will save 76% on electric bill, 73% less water used. You have to have a 3 prong grounded outlet, you cannot use and two prong converter it will void your warranty. (I called Whirlpool they told me this). you MUST leave the door open all the time (when not in use as mold and bacteria can grow in there as all the water doesn't drain out when the load is done. Once a month you have to run a "cleaning" mode load. It comes with an Afresh tablet and when it is installed they tell you to run that load first. How long it takes to due a load will about double, well for me it does. If you use the heavy or normal load setting it is over an hour. Delicate is about 37 minutes. It is much more noisy than a top loader. The spin cycle it what it loud and it shakes the whole room if on hard wood floors. I was told by Whirlpool to put vinyl squares under the feet to absorb the vibrations. This cut the vibrations about 50%. The machine is balanced and it doesn't vibrate much but everything else in the room was.The video is so you can hear an actual spin cycle. It's not super quiet but I have adjusted to the new sounds.Make sure you read the manual before using the washer. There is important information in correct loading and how to add different types of detergents. Also there is a list of how long each type of cycle will run so you can plan around those times. Heavy Duty 1hr 22 min to wash rinse and spin 26 minutes, drain and spin 14 min. Delicate wash time 37 minutes.Okay now the actual washing. Being my first front loader I watched the first few loads. You need to put small items in a bag to wash as they can get caught in the rubber seal that goes around the opening and even go under that causing a clog. Not a problem I have 3 of them. It gives you instructions on what can go in at a time. You can fill it full but not stuffed. I was able to put what I normally would in my large machine. You must use HE laundry soap. It takes a lot less soap this is a good thing. One thing I loved was nothing came out with white soap residue left on it, no matter what liquid I used in my other machine one or two items would have to be hand rinsed. My first load included sheets and everything came out tangled...I didn't like that. Second load was better and I made it smaller. No tangled clothes on more loads I have done. Seems just the sheets with a few mixed clothes was the only one to tangle. What I am finding is my items that I do not put in the dryer and hang to dry are not needing ironing some none and others just a bit. I used to have to iron all the air dry things. The borax seems to make this even better. At first I was missing my old machine but now that I have done a number of loads I am getting used to the differences. If for no other reason the savings on water and electric are reason enough to like it. I have mine in what was a dining room off my kitchen and it is very sharp and modern looking. I have Amana and Whirlpool appliances in there so it fits fight in,I stated earlier that it is loud when it spins, this is due to the fact it gets much more water out of your clothes so it takes about half the time to dry them. Here is where you make up for the longer washing times. It kinda sounds like a jet engine starting up when it builds to full spin power. It is just a matter of getting used to it. My top loader was really quiet all I really heard was when the tub was filling. Now on to the monthly cleaning. The installer told me I didn't have to buy the Afresh tablets that bleach would do the same thing. I have been reading reviews about the tablets and about Tide's machine cleaner. A few women talked about 20 mule team Borax. Would not of thought of that. My Mom used that when I was a child. It is natural and will not be harmful to the machine or the earth. It states on the box safe for HE machines. These women said it works better than the bleach and no strong chemical odors. I picked up a 76 ounce box at Krogers under $4.00. So that is the route I plan to take as long as it works.Update on Borax, have used it with each load and my clothes seem even cleaner and there is no odor whatsoever in the washer. I use unscented detergent but it still has a slight scent with the borax nothing. I am sold now I know why Mother's have trusted it for years. All things considered I very much like the machine. It is just very different and you might want to be aware that how you do laundry will change, but in the long run for the better.

    2. Length:: 4:29 MinsCheck out this video review that my wife and I made to see this washer with your own two eyes. We go over look and feel, capacity, differences between this washer and our old one, and a lot more. Seeing is always better, so check it out!Note: After having this washer for a few more months I'll update this review and let everyone know how this product is holding up.

    3. I have always had top-loading washers, and I was skeptical of the front loaders, but after this one, I'm thrilled!Starting with the look, this Amana washer looks like something you'd find on the Starship Enterprise. The front door opens on the right side (swinging open to the left). I don't know if this is a standard, but every house I've been in has the washer hook-up to the left of the dryer hook-up. As a result, the door opens away from the dryer, which allows you to easily move your laundry from washer to dryer without the door getting in the way. Furthermore, this washer is intended to be stackable with its mated dryer. I don't have that dryer, but if you have limited space, this is the solution for you!The washer has many cycles and options to choose from, and all are entered by pressing a large silver button until the indicator light matches the options you want. It is easy to use and intuitive to control (I ran the first loads without looking at the manual in order to see how intuitive the controls were). Once you press start, the wash begins and the door is locked. This prevents water spillage, but if you are used to a top-loader, you'll have to remember to check your load first. If you find a sock you dropped, it will have to wait for the next load! (There is an "add-a-garment" indicator, but you'll still be standing there waiting, whereas with the top loader you can just throw the item right in.)On that note, things like socks and stockings are supposed to go in a bag before washing, as they may get stuck in the mechanism. We still wash the socks free-range, and we haven't seen a problem.Speaking of seeing, that was a concern when we got this. Since most lights are on the ceiling, the top loader was easy to see into and get every item out. I was worried about that with the front-loader, but this one seems to be angled or something, as I can see everything just fine inside. Even if I couldn't, however, I can easily reach in and feel around for little things like socks.Once you start the load, aside from the lights on the front, you may wonder if it has actually started. This is because the washer is so unbelievably quiet it seems as if it isn't actually running. Even the spin cycle is quiet, although it is the loudest part. With our old washer, we had to pause TV shows in the bedroom during the spin cycle, but not anymore! It uses so little water, that again, I wondered if it was working right. I know it is a low-energy and water washer, but it is a really low water washer! If you live in a house where no one can flush a toilet while someone is in the shower, like we do, you'll appreciate the fact that the water draw is so meager that it has no effect on the pressure or temperature of the shower! With the lower water use comes a bit of a cost. Wash cycles take longer than they do with regular top loading washers. I didn't time them side by side, but it takes approximately 10% longer to wash a load in this washer than in my old one. On the other hand, you will make the time up in your drying cycle, since the clothes come out drier than they do in a top loader. Even towels don't come out soaked and dripping. With all this efficiency and low water usage, I worried about the washer's ability to clean well. Fortunately, that was not the case. Even my sons' lacrosse uniforms came clean (and this was after I made the mistake of running their "man-ball" drills in the one big patch of dirt on the field)! Now, while I wouldn't categorize this is a "con" in the sense of pros and cons, you might. This washer requires high efficiency washer detergent. You cannot use your regular detergent in this machine, and doing so may void your warranty. The good news is that the high efficiency detergent was available at Wal-Mart, and while it was more expensive, it wasn't much more expensive. The usual detergent was $12, whereas the high efficiency one was $15 for the same size. It is a difference, but if you consider that you will make that back in electric usage and water usage, it works out OK, particularly here in Nevada where water is very expensive! As the washer finishes its cycle, there is a handy alarm that is easy to hear around the house. This is a great benefit when, as I mentioned before, the washer is so quiet you won't know it is done otherwise! In the end, this is a fabulous washer! It will save you money and take good care of your clothes! As a bonus, you can sleep through its cycles!

    4. Front loaders are becoming more popular so we, like most people, have always used a top loader but have considered the switch. This is not an expensive washer compared to others and it is not overly loaded with features. It's square (or cubed) with not a lot of design which is fine. Hookup is very easy with two water hoses, grounded cord and a drain hose which connects with a spring clip. All washers we have owned used a dial to turn to the type of wash you need to use. With this washer you push the main button until the desired type of wash is highlighted. The washer shows the process by a little light next to a label. There is no digital display. We were used to having the buttons and information on the top at the back of the washer. On this machine they are on the front of the washer. One problem is that you can accidently bump a button. Our clothes looked and felt clean. Front loaders take at least a half hour longer then top loaders but are supposed to be more energy efficient. The spin cycle works well and is pretty quiet standing next to it. With a heavy load of towels there was no movement or travel of the machine at all.The top of the washer is flat a nice feature if you like to leave your laundry basket or the matching dryer is designed so that they can be used as a stackable set. Without the optional stand the washer is pretty low to get into and may be required by anyone who has trouble reaching into low places. There are a few things we don't care for in a front loader. One, is after the washing is complete water will run off the inside of the door onto the floor when you open the door to get the laundry. When filling the drum with laundry we need one hand to hold the laundry in or it can fall back out, making loading a bit annoying.Overall it is a great washing machine, not expensive and has the necessary features to do most laundry.

    5. I must preface this review by saying I have used a top loading washing machine for over 50 years, so the front loading Amana 3.5 cu. ft washer, which I am now reviewing for Amazon Vine Voice was/is a brand new learning experience for me. We have used the front loading machine for two complete weeks worth of laundry plus several small in-between loads and slowly we are learning about the Amana and about front loading washing machines. Our previous washing machine was a 3.5 cu. ft one too, but having the front loader makes much more of that 3.5 cubic feet available for washing as there is no center agitator taking up room. This makes the new Amana a perfect machine for families, as you can really get alot into the washer at one time. And we think the clothes are coming out of the Amana cleaner than with the top loader we had before......and this is with less water and less detergent(we had already been using the HE detergent). The Amana is much, much quieter, including the signal beeps that notify that the load is done and ready for the dryer (this can be a problem for older people or those with hearing disabilities). You definitively need to have the platform,an additional part for the washer, which will raise the height of washer's door 10 to 15 inches off the floor. As it stands now you have to bend over quite a distance to see into the glass window in the door of the washer and standard laundry baskets do not fit under the door so that you could easily scoop the clothes into the dryer. You have to bend, get a load, turn around and put in a basket and then repeat the process again and again to load up before bringing the basket to the dryer (at least in our laundry room setup where the door opening to the left of the machine blocks you in between the wall and washer door). I would happily spend more to have the platform added as a permanent part of the washer.Another concern is the top of the washer is entirely flat.....there is no raised surface as there is with a top loader where the dials, etc are on a raised panel at the back of the top of the machine, catching everything that might accidently be pushed back there. Having washed for over 50 years with that feature it is hard to remember it is no longer there and when folding, sorting, etc on the top now you have to be very careful not to let anything slide off the unprotected back. Once you have droped something back there it necessitates pulling the machine out to retrieve the item and the machine is not light. I am hoping getting the platform and continuous practice will eliminate losing things behind the washer. Finally, while I really love this machine and the fact that it is energy efficient and so quiet.....I really dislike how long it takes to wash a load of clothes. It used to take 25 minutes to wash a load of clothes....it now takes 1 hour and 12 minutes on the normal cycle. That means, in this household, what use to take 2-3 hours in a morning to do the weekly wash for 2 people now takes a whole day plus. I question how using more electricity, even with less water, can be energy efficient especially when in our area water costs less than electricity.Despite my concerns I would recommend the Amana 3.5 cu. ft Front Load Washer and feel privileged to have been able to review it for Amazon Vinevoice

    6. I love a front loading washer! They use so much less water than a conventional washer that I actually noticed a difference in our water consumption and the clothes are actually cleaner! With no agitator, it is also gentler on clothes so they don't wear out as fast and you can place larger, bulkier items in it as well. My entire bed comforter fits. This Amana model is a good basic model for a front loader with all the cycles you'll need to get your clothes clean: heavy duty, normal and delicate. There is also a "clean washer" cycle. One of the nice features is that it automatically adjusts the water levels for you. I like when machines take out the guess work. You are suppose to use only detergents marked HE because they produce less suds. If you use regular it may add time to your wash cycle. I've found that most every brand has HE detergents for the same price as regular now.The machine is really quite during washing but can be quite loud during the spin cycle. This model has a pedestal option available or a stack kit. The pedestals are nice because they not only provide storage but they raise the washer so it's easier to reach in and requires less bending over. The washer will also stack with a dryer if you're limited on space. In the past some people have had troubles with their front loaders mildewing or smelling. This model comes with a "clean washer" cycle and a sample pack of machine cleaner. I haven't had any problems with mine. I wash whites with bleach quite often which I think helps. Using only HE detergent is also suppose to help. But on the advice of Heloise, I leave the door cracked on the washer until it drys. You can also just run the washer on the "clean washer" cycle with regular bleach once a month too.

    7. I got this washer about 2 months ago and it has given me problems. Everytime I load something into it and have it go throught it cycle it starts to beep instead of actually washing. Then in order to get the beeping to stop I have to rearrange the clothes. no matter how many clothes I put in, it still does that. One time I couldn't wash anything because it just kept beeping and not wanting to wash. I check everywhere and even the manuel and no anwser.

    8. I was amazed at how well this washer preformed but mostly the price for a front load washer. It is SO much more quieter too. It spins the clothes so dry that I don't have to use my dryer as long. It does take a little longer to wash but the results are worth it. I would highly recommend this product to anyone. Thank you AMAZON!!

    9. So I bought this Amana NFW7300* to save money on my water bill. Sure did! Doesn't use enough water to wash AWAY the dirt at all. Just tumbles the clothes incessantly with just enough water to get the clothes and the dirt damp, but doesnt wash it away. Amana said this is normal as it only uses 1.5 gals per load. The load capacity is awesome; they just dont get clean. (IF you add enough extra water to fill to the bottom of the window then it works great). I though the days of the old ringer washers, where you have to add water with a gardern hose were gone.2nd Problem: It keeps eating socks and other clothes that get caught between the tub and drum. About once a month you have to take the bottom cover off (READ NOT EASY) and take a sock out of the lint filter. My son's new coat ($60.00 PCJ) has this funny cresent shaped sharp-edged tear/cut in it. After I climbed all over him for ruining his new coat I discovered it was the washer. Oh yeah and there was that new top a while back and my husband's underwear (I thought that was odd). Maybe Miss Amana and he had a thing going on, Hmmmmm???? Now my kids had these sticky worms that stick on the wall. One of them jammed up the pump motor and fried it. Oh and the damn thing just ran out of warranty!Prob. No. 3: The smell, Whew! I tried everything to get the smell out of this thing. I used the Amana Cleaner and I used the Tide washer cleaner. I even used double dose batches of cleaner followed by bleach and then another double dose batch and a bleach again. Nothing worked until I discovered it wouldnt drain either and found out why it was smelling so bad. It was 3 socks plugging up the lint drain (READ take the bottom front cover off again). No wonder the washer soap couldnt bleach the smell out of the socks stuck in the drain! Where, oh where is my old indestructible top-loader???? AMANA! I HATE YOU!

    10. High efficiency is important these days and this little Amana front loader is efficient in more ways than one. It uses a fraction of the water a top loader uses, and half as much soap. The machine is attractive and minimalist, and it lives up to its promises. My last washing machine was a top loader so deep that I could barely fish socks out of it without bruising my ribs. I needed the size because, as a pet owner, I wash big bulky items like comforters, blankets and furniture throws every week.I was a little concerned because the new machine is smaller than the old. I needn't have been. This one handles big loads far better.Okay, so it takes twice the time to do a load as it did my traditional machine. Since I usually procrastinate until I have to do at least four loads in a row, this doesn't exactly thrill me, but I'll adjust because everything is cleaner, and the clothes come out amazingly dry and mysteriously smooth. You only need run the dryer for a few minutes to finish them off, or if you like to hang some of items on the line, you'll find your quick-drying clothes far less wrinkly than you're used to. I'm still trying to figure out how that works.Maybe it has to do with the lack of an agitator. This is a boon in several ways. For one, there's a lot more room in the washer without that big arm taking up real estate. My big fluffy comforters fit far more easily into this seemingly smaller machine than they ever did in the top loader. For another, no agitator means no scarf, sleeve or trouser leg can strangle itself on the base of the agitator and wreak havoc, however minor. Or major. The lack of agitator also means it's much safer to toss your super-delicates in instead of hand washing.I like things to be simple and intuitive, and this washer fits the bill. The only thing I don't like is the stated need to put socks and other small items in a mesh bag so they won't get stuck and clog things up. I've only done this for small, thin nylon socks, not for regular socks, and have had no problems in a month of washes. After the addition of a pedestal so that I don't have to do so much bending and kneeling, this quiet, smooth machine will be perfect. Highly recommended.
